   8:30 am–5 pm Advanced Practice Course 8.2 CH

This comprehensive course is essential for the advanced practice rehabilitation nurse. Experienced faculty will provide attendees with cutting-edge information on new nursing practice trends, theory, and the application of current concepts and treatments. This course is also designed to prepare the advanced practice rehabilitation nurse for the Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse-Advanced (CRRN-A) certification examination.
Attend this course and learn to:
  • integrate current concepts in pathophysiology and neuropharmacology into clinical practice
  • evaluate healthcare systems in relation to current concepts of case management, financial application, and client outcomes (clinical, administrative, and regulatory)
  • synthesize selected theoretical frameworks into the advanced practice role
  • apply ethical principles in daily advanced practice roles

Delegation, Supervision, and All That Jazz

Nursing leaders need to maximize the use of nursing brainpower in a nursing shortage through effective delegation of tasks and processes based on intended outcomes. This workshop will assist in reaching this goal by reviewing the principles of critical thinking, the 5 rights of delegation, the steps of supervision, and how to motivate members of the patient care team.

Approaching Pain from a Rehabilitation Perspective

This timely workshop will explore the need for using a multidisciplinary rehabilitation approach in the treatment of chronic pain. Identify the differences in acute versus chronic pain and the nurses role in the chronic pain multidisciplinary team.

Touro Infirmary Rehabilitation Center
Visit a nationally recognized, CARF accredited Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Inpatient Chronic Pain, and General Rehabilitation Center. There are currently 63 rehab beds, located within an acute care facility that has a 150-year history as a private, not-for-profit, teaching hospital. JACHO designated Touro's Chronic Pain Center and Acute Brain Injury Unit as Best Practice Units for 2001. The tour will include 10 short presentations about unique services provided to our rehab patients including nursing historical perspectives; SCI education program; BI injury behavioral management; chronic pain multidisciplinary approach; Alternative Therapy Center; Neuro Science Center; Wound Care Program; IRF PAI Compliance; and Case Management interaction.

Fee: $20 per person
