ARN Essential Leadership: You are the Future of Rehabilitation Nursing
October 19 - 20, 2009
Special Preconference Course
True leaders thrive in the face of difficulty and turn problems into opportunities. ARN serves as the perfect vehicle for you to become a leader in the field of rehabilitation nursing. This course can provide you with the tools to lead change and control your professional destiny, rather than just going along for the ride. Each day rehabilitation nurses provide excellence in clinical care to help their patients reach the best outcomes. They do this while negotiating the politics of their facility, navigating regulatory agencies, and carefully documenting it all. Everyday can seem more like a practice of crisis management than strategic planning for improving your practice and the profession of rehabilitation nursing. ARN's Essential Leadership Course will provide you with the insight and skills necessary to become a leader within ARN and help improve the future for all rehabilitation nurses.
Day One
Speaker and consultant Virginia Beeson will introduce the leadership traits that ARN has identified as essential for leading the profession. Explore the importance of "Building a Culture of Leadership" and the four major building blocks necessary to do so:
- leadership excellence both individually and organizationally
- accountability
- successful conflict resolution
- courage.
Day Two
A panel of ARN leaders will help you get to know ARN and its role in developing and supporting rehabilitation nursing leaders. Network with them and your peers while exploring
- the ARN strategic plan for the future of rehabilitation nursing
- how a membership association can lead and effect change within nursing
- why you should get involved
- how ARN can develop leadership skills and empower you to inspire change.
The registration fee includes course materials, 11 nursing contact hours, and continental breakfast, lunch, and snack breaks throughout
the 2-day course. All course activities will take place at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque.
