Improvement science is a nascent field of research that aims to determine which improvement strategies work to ensure effective and safe patient care. Please join us as Drs. Darpan Patel and Frank Puga of the Improvement Science Research Network (ISRN) discuss the current state of improvement science research, how it is being applied in the acute care arena, and how it can be applied in the rehabilitation setting. Learn how rehabilitation nurses have a new opportunity to affect patient care not only in their own institutions, but also to collaborate within networks to improve care across settings. This exciting presentation will offer the attendee the opportunity to

• define improvement science
• compare and contrast traditional research, quality improvement, and improvement science
• describe the role of transdisciplinary teams in improvement science
• discuss the role of the rehabilitation nurse in leading change through the application of improvement science at the bedside.
