Spasticity Management in Rehabilitation: Evidence-Based Interdisciplinary Strategies

Spasticity can be a challenge in the rehab setting and can negatively impact outcomes and function. This free activity which includes a formal presentation and open discussion, provides an overview of spasticity in rehabilitation including patient implications and different treatment options to improve quality of life. Listen to members from an interdisciplinary team including a physician, rehabilitation nurse, occupational therapist and physical therapist.

After participating in this activity, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the types of patients who develop spasticity, the causes of spasticity, and the adverse effects of spasticity on functionality
  • Identify interdisciplinary management within the rehabilitation setting
  • Identify multiple treatment options based on patient severity and functionality and risks for complications
