Clinical Nurse Specialist

Join our client, RehabCare Group, as the Clinical Nurse Specialist supporting the rehabilitation and skilled nursing programs at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital System in Savannah, Georgia. Reporting to the Program Director, the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides indirect patient care services to support patient care, promote professional education, and advance knowledge through research and scholarly activities among the rehabilitation and skilled nursing staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Program Director with the overall operation of the rehabilitation and skilled nursing programs, including planning, directing and coordinating all program activities.
  • Provide staff with continuing education opportunities, orientation and clinical specialist support.
  • Develop and implement training programs, identify and assess performance needs in collaboration with the Program Director and the nurse management team. Act as a resource to the Program Director and provide appropriate documentation of education activities.
  • Address staff performance issues, monitor adherence to regulations, and aid the Admissions Coordinator in determining appropriate course for patients.
  • Support the Program Director in the management of all day to day rehabilitation and skilled nursing program activities including the admissions and referrals process and adherence to policies and practices.


The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, with at least three years full-time equivalent experience as a RN in a specialty area, preferably a rehabilitation setting.
  • CRRN certification is highly desirable, though not required.
  • Have the ability to manage in a fast paced, multi-function hospital, health or human services environment. Must be able to manage multiple sets of priorities and delegate effectively.
  • Possess strong organizational skills and proficiency with MS Office products. Experience with electronic medical records a plus.
  • Exhibit unquestioned ethics, as well as a demonstrated record of working with sensitive, confidential records and materials.
