Cheryl Lehman

Quantitative, is currently conducting active research on instrument development for community reintegration in wounded military personnel. Also chairs the data safety management board for a large multi-investigator, multi-site Department of Defense-funded study on PTSD, and have been a member of the UTHSCSA IRB for the past 2 ½ years.

Mary Gebhardt

Qualitative research methodology.  Topic areas of interest include brain injury, stroke, caregiving, and spirituality. Additionally, any grant proposals looking at student nurses would be of interest.

Mindi Miller

Doctorate is in anthropology. Dissertation was a qualitative linguistic study that focused on contextual meanings within the discourse of malpractice plaintiffs.  Current research (and funding) is from Geisinger Medical Center.  This study relates to Managers’ Perspectives
on Workplace Communication.

Chris Olney

The science of pressure ulcer prevention in persons  with spinal cord injury.  Presently, post doctoral work focus is in the hospital setting, understanding the barriers and facilitators to repositioning of Veterans with SCI.
This project will result in evidence to guide nursing practice toward more effective methods for repositioning their patients in the hospital setting. Next research award (career development award) am proposing to examine the relative effectiveness of a proposed repositioning protocol and visco elastic overlays to prevent new or recurring pressure ulcers in Veterans with SCI in their home environment. Qualitative and quantitative (interviews, survey, instrument development, implementation, evaluation)
methods will be used.

Pat Edwards

Pediatrics with research on TBI.  Dissertation was on middle managers work in rehabilitation facilities and continued work on managers in acute care and Magnet  hospitals. 
Most recent research has revolved around the professional practice environment in hospitals.
