Election Statement
As a rehabilitation nurse I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles including staff nurse, educator, CNS, admissions liaison, case manager and manager. This broad range of experiences has afforded me the opportunity to appreciate challenges faced by rehab nurses across the spectrum of practice. Active participation in ARN for over 25 years has lead to immense professional growth and preparation to promote excellence in rehab nursing. Serving as Region 7 Director for two terms significantly enriched my appreciation of issues and concerns at the Regional and National levels. If elected to the position of President-Elect, in addition to serving the organization as a whole, I will continue to be available to individuals, chapters and the board of directors for problem-solving, mentoring, and promoting the values of ARN.

Election Statement
For 20+ years, I have gained valuable experience/knowledge regarding the functioning of ARN through service on its Board of Directors and committees, Certification Board (RNCB), and Nursing Foundation (RNF). ARN's vision is to reshape healthcare by integrating rehabilitation nursing concepts into care for everyone, while becoming the pre-eminent organization for rehabilitation nursing in the nation and world. You and I have the opportunity to promote this vision through new and evolving partnerships in practice, education, and research, and through our public policy. Addressing the complexity of current questions/issues in rehabilitation nursing requires the contributions of many. Our interdisciplinary colleagues are vital partners in this endeavor; you and I must continue to explore avenues for building and fostering these relationships. I have witnessed the extraordinary work of ARN members in contributing to the ongoing development of our organization. I am proud to have participated in these efforts; I look forward to the opportunity to provide further leadership, serving as president-elect.

Election Statement
As a long time member of ARN I have seen the membership continually step up to the challenges placed before them. The current strategic plan which has its focus on leadership, research, and professional development will allow the organization to continue to grow, maintain active in helping all patients with rehabilitation needs. I believe the most important message that we must convey is that rehabilitation is not a time or a place but a belief system in getting the client to their highest level of functioning. My experience as a rehabilitation nurse for the past 25 years allows me to recognize the changes needed at the local, regional and national levels to achieve this goal.

Election Statement
My experience and history with ARN is extensive. But what I feel I offer most to the Board of Directors is my analytical skills and ability to apply those to the future. Knowing where ARN has been has definite value but more importantly the ARN BOD needs to be visionary and committed to its strategic plan. In my first term as the Region 1 Director I was an active participant in the development of our current strategic plan. In addition I served on the committee that met with our new government relations firm in Washington DC to determine the future needs of ARN. Finally, I have been the chair of the Safe Patient Handling Task Force working to make online resources available to prevent movement related injuries to rehabilitation nurses. I look forward to a great future for ARN and would appreciate your support with your vote.

Election Statement
Rehabilitation nursing has been my profession as well as passion for the last 20 years. I love the contact with people especially when you can see the difference your interventions have made in their life. I have had the wonderful privilege to work with Rehab nurse leaders from Region 3 for many years and have recently had the opportunity to meet new leaders from across the nation during my current term as Region 3 Director. I can truly say my knowledge base has increased after each interaction.
Working with the ARN staff, ARN board and rehab nursing leaders to develop the strategic vision was a rare experience for me. I feel that I was given the opportunity to provide input into the future direction for ARN. I am fully committed to advancing Rehabilitation nursing practice into all healthcare settings. I will work diligently to bring nurses together to apply the rehab principles in order to improve patient care by achieving positive outcomes.

Election Statement
Over the years, Region III has engaged strong leadership, in this position and throughout the membership as well. Some might say that would make this position easy but this strength can also pose challenges…great expectations and difficult shoes to fill. My commitment to the region would be to continue the course that has been paved by those before me and hopefully add a new path or two. It is important to be the liaison between the region and ARN and support the initiatives set forth by ARN. It is also imperative to meet the needs of the region by providing leadership, mentoring, facilitation, and support where needed. This is never accomplished by one person. We have an exceptional amount of talent, creativity and expertise in our region and it will be my goal to utilize those strengths and meet the needs of the region if given the opportunity.

Election Statement
I have a great interest in promoting rehabilitation nursing in all aspects of nursing care delivered - be it ICU, ER or the free standing rehabilitation facility. I have experience in leadership positions in local and national organizations, in clinical practice at the staff nurse and CNS levels, and in education as a CNS and now as a faculty member in a school of nursing. I am known for completing assignments on time, for being creative in problem-solving, and for being a hard worker, all of which will benefit ARN. I helped develop ARN's strategic vision, and truly believe that this vision can be achieved.

Election Statement
As a member of Northeast Texas Chapter since 1986 and as holding a position on Northeast Texas Chapter's board since 1989 I have seen first hand that it takes a group of dedicated rehab professionals to maintain the chapter's momentum and forward thinking. I would like to be part of ARN's vision in achieving the "big hairy audacious" goal of reshaping healthcare by integrating rehabilitation nursing concepts into care for all people. To help ARN achieve this goal I would encourage collaboration with other organizations that affect rehabilitation by encouraging members involvement in related organizations; increase awareness and value of rehabilitation nursing to baby boomers by encouraging current rehab professionals to speak at local schools of nursing on rehabilitation letting their passion of the specialty show; and increase the number of CRRN's by educating the members on the value of maintaining rehabilitation certification.

Election Statement
I have had the privilege as a current Board Member to participate in the strategic planning process that will ensure ARN continues to be the premier resource for rehabilitation nursing well into the future. I look forward to participating as a competent rehabilitation nurse leader in this ongoing process to reshape healthcare by integrating rehabilitation nursing concepts into care for all people. It is a challenging time for many chapters and rehabilitation providers and it is essential that we explore and introduce improved ways of reaching out to each other to share best practices, network and be of support. Throughout my fourteen years in rehabilitation nursing I have been passionate about promoting excellence in our specialty practice through my work with ARN, my organization, and other professional alliances I have fostered. I embrace the opportunity to continue this commitment to ARN at the national level.

I have had the honor of serving ARN and its members in a variety of roles during my rehabilitation nursing career. Being quite familiar with ARN's mission, vision and values, I can assist the association to further strive to meet its goals while meeting the needs of its members by identifying and mentoring rehabilitation nurses into future leaders of the association. I feel I have the unique experience of being in touch and knowing rehabilitation nurses all over the country. I am confident of the talent and abilities of these nurses to become more involved in ARN as well as in becoming a potential leader with the organization. As a member of the Nominating Committee, I would actively identify and encourage the best candidates to take the challenge of becoming more involved within ARN by seeking out a leadership role.
