WRITERS’ AWARD
INNOVATIVE CLINICAL Practice Article
Rehabilitation Nursing now offers you an exciting new opportunity to share the creative clinical practice solutions that help improve how we perform rehabilitation.
New as well as more experienced authors are invited to submit your manuscript to the journal’s online submission site (mc.manuscriptcentral.com/rnj). The manuscripts should describe the specific problem, strategy, rationale, and measurable outcomes. The manuscripts can also describe evidence-based practice projects or quality-improvement projects. Articles submitted for consideration should emphasize professional experiences, be in 6th edition APA format, and be 3,000 words or less.
Authors submitting manuscripts to the contest will receive a $35 credit toward the purchase of ARN merchandise. The winner and first two runner-ups will be announced at the ARN Annual Educational Conference and published in the journal; the primary author of the first-place article will receive a 1-year membership to ARN. The submission deadline is July 16, 2010.
Articles submitted for consideration should emphasize innovative professional practice solutions. Suggestions include but are not limited to:
- emerging nursing roles in rehabilitation nursing (i.e., palliative care nurse, stroke
nurse case manager throughout the care continuum)
- strategies to assist nurses to translate specific evidence-based projects into clinical
practice (may also include projects implemented to ensure certification/recognition
by national accreditation agencies)
- using existing tools (i.e., pedometer) in a different way (to measure steps taken
while in rehabilitation )
- a targeted teaching tool for the patient or family related to perhaps glucose
monitoring or fall prevention
- interventions to enhance the mobility of younger patients on ventilators.
